"You're not living up to your true potential!"
How often did you hear this as a young person? From parents or teachers or maybe your own inner voices having internalized the idea?
How often did it make you alternately violently angry, full of despair, existentially CHECKED the eff out...?
What did it even mean??
Everyone's idea of what you were capable of?
Or more accurately and more likely, what they believed you should be doing/learning/being/becoming.
UGH.
NO.
HARD NO.
After all, generally speaking, highly gifted people don't want to be boxed in.
Freedom is often our #1 value, or at the least it is always in the top 3.
And being told what to do/be is the opposite vibe from FREEDOM...
(Unless we were established in our earliest years as the "good child" who always does what they're told in order to get acceptance, approval, safety. Then you followed a different path, but trust me when I guarantee you that it landed you eventually in this very same place.)
And yet...
And yet, we DO feel this mystery pulse signaling to us of something wonderful that we are meant to do, to discover, to become.
So we keep playing the video game of life, using our beautiful brains to level up, acquire new magicks and skills and weaponry (perhaps in the form of titles, salaries, fancy stuff, awards, or maybe more mystical but untranslatable stuff like keen understandings of the nature of reality).
That is a quest we never complete.
Not because that is the point of the quest, no.
I DO believe firmly in the journey over the destination, but this is NOT that.
This never completing the quest...
...it's BECAUSE YOU ARE ON THE WRONG QUEST.
Basically, you're dealing with this version of quest math:
your gifted brain
+ society
+ however childhood formed you =
______________________
ENDLESS attempts to win at what are ultimately only SIDE QUESTS.
The real quest is YOU.
Yes, YOU ARE THE QUEST.
And the good news/bad news?
With your brain type, even if you don't wish to be on a quest, you cannot help yourself.
Your brain REQUIRES the quest of you.
It will relentlessly slave drive you towards this even if you never align accurately with it.
You can see how that is good or bad news depending on the sort of experience you are wanting in your life right now.
On the plus side, your brain will never give up on this. On the plus side, you were literally born for it.
On the bad news side, your brain will never give up on this. If you wanted to merely lean all the way back and relax into a laid-back life in which you simply float and receive from the joyfulness of the world, whelp, that's not actually on offer UNTIL you get aligned with this true quest.
You have this brain type for a reason. I firmly believe this.
Whatever metaphysical/spiritual frame you have on the nature of life, your gifted outlier brain is the primary, or perhaps better put, the foundational variable driving your human experience.
And what your brain craves more than anything is to unlock the innermost chamber within you and discover the true, unfiltered, unmodified by the world, YOU in order to then accurately translate that infinite essence out into linear, tangible reality.
And it's not going to give up until you agree to join the true quest.
THEN you can relax!
