Every morning I seek to tune into what creating actions* God desires of me.
If I am not in a creative flow which feels supported by God, I feel horrible.
I actually usually cannot even function if I try to do so outside of Spirit.
I have developed various practices for myself to help me with this.
What it feels like is Jesus handing me a towline to waterski.
My job is:
1: get myself positioned and steady
2: stand up when he starts up the boat that will pull me
3: hold on the handlebar firmly!
4: don’t let go!
5: SQUEEEEEE!
So the key tricks are first, how to create the conditions within myself to even discover the initial availability of the tow rope.
And then how to stay upright and move with Jesus as he steers the boat!
Sometimes things get going very fast and my creative work then is really about keeping up!! Maintaining the balance and rhythm.
Wiping out can HURT. Hopefully you can laugh and get back up again!
Taking the proper care of yourself when the run is over is an incredibly vital part of the practices that support you to have the needed conditions within at the time Jesus throws you another line to catch.
And don’t say no!
Have you ever felt this?
*God is the Prime Creator and made us to be his image bearers, so we are designed fundamentally to also create as subcreators. Creating actions, in my experience, can be any form of action. I have at times had Jesus throw me a tow rope that was about organizing some aspect of my house. It is not always about my writing or artwork or business systems work.
I’m sharing more about this here if you’d like to join me there.
In JOY,
Melanie
